Leather! Lace! Fishnets! ET’s own Mark Steines is first on the set of the highly anticipated film ‘Burlesque’ with Cher, Christina Aguilera, Kristen Bell, Julianne Hough, and Stanley Tucci!
“I love the idea of burlesque and I have always been intrigued by it and inspired by it,” says Christina. “How much better can it get than a whole movie about that world?”
In theaters Thanksgiving, ‘Burlesque’ marks the Oscar-winning Cher’s first major role in 11 years, and she tells Mark that it’s not all that easy coming back to movie set life.
“You know what? It is a hard job,” she says. “You get up at 5 a.m. and you try to look good. All these girls are, like, a third my age. That is rough.”
In ‘Burlesque,’ Christina plays a small-town girl with a big voice who heads to L.A. to follow her dreams, only to land a job at The Burlesque Lounge, home to an inspired musical revue run by Cher’s character. Stanley Tucci plays a sharp-witted stage manager, Julianne plays a fellow dancer, while Kristen creates conflict as a jealous performer.
Julianne and Christina make their big-screen debuts in ‘Burlesque,’ and Christina says that having Cher on the project doesn’t hurt. “That alone has been a huge blessing,” she says. “I can tell you I love her. I love Cher!”
“Everything she does, you’re just like, ‘Wow,’” says Julianne, and Kristen adds, “You don’t get to be more of an icon than she is.”
So, does anyone think that Cher is difficult to work with? Just ask Stanley.
“Difficult wouldn’t be the word, but let’s move on to another topic,” he says sarcastically, prompting a fun reaction from Cher…
