Ten years after unleashing her inner genie, original ‘Dirrty’ girl Christina Aguilera has settled into contented motherhood and early wake-up calls. But she hasn’t lost touch with her wild side. As she tells Maureen Paton, ‘I’m a night owl regardless’
Christina Aguilera’s bodyguard and driver are quietly playing pool along the corridor from the presidential suite of the Philippe Starck-designed SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, where the singer/songwriter awaits me on a white sofa in her latest incarnation as a peachy-skinned Hollywood goddess. Judging by the traffic-stopping ruby-red lipstick and the sprayed-on black velvet halterneck dress with the built-in balcony bra, I’m guessing that she’s already in character for her movie debut in the film Burlesque, which she’s about to start shooting.
Every waking moment, it seems, is accounted for by this shrewd operator, who has sold more than 37 million albums worldwide, won five Grammy Awards and long since proved that she’s Madonna’s natural heir when it comes to reinventing her femininity. Her friend and sometime collaborator Elton John even paid tribute to Christina’s focus by dubbing her an ‘old soul’ – and she’s still only 28.
One of her favourite stores is the LA branch of the erotic boutique Coco de Mer, which knows just how to drape (or undrape) the womanly shape. You won’t ever find her aspiring to be a stick insect: even the bottle of her third and latest fragrance emulates the curves of the female body with a vampish black lace design on the glass.

Christina ‘obsessed’ with red
Christina Aguilera is obsessed with wearing the colour red.
The ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better’ singer – who is known for her trademark platinum blonde hair and crimson lipstick – always incorporates the bold colour into her wardrobe and make-up because it helps her achieve the classic “Hollywood glamour” look.
She explained to Britain’s Heat magazine: “Red is a colour that defines sexy, whether it’s a sultry red lipstick, hot-red stilettos or a glamorous red evening gown. It’s a sensual and feminine colour that fuses confidence with classic Hollywood glamour. Women who want to experiment with red should start by incorporating small accents into their look, like red lips or nails. It soon becomes one of those colours you can’t live without.
“I always love red lips, no matter what. I also love the combination of black mascara and a rich scarlet lipstick. Finally, fragrance, because it tops off any look, no matter what the occasion: red carpet, going out to dinner or even going to bed at night.”
The 28-year-old beauty – who recently launched her third perfume, ‘Christina Aguilera By Night’ – says women only need to follow a simple beauty regime to look their best.
When asked about top three tips to looking great, she said: “One: moisturise. I never go out without moisturiser – it’s the foundation for beautiful, glowing skin. Two: sleep. Get plenty of rest. Sleep makes everything look and feel better – your hair, your skin, your nails, everything. Three: hydrate. Drink plenty of water. It’s as simple as that.”

Christina Aguilera By Night: Inspired by the Color Red
Singer Christina Aguilera will release a new flanker to her 2007 eponymous perfume called By Night. Last year she introduced another fragrance titled Inspire. Christina Aguilera By Night is said to be inspired by the color red. The singer explained why she chose it,
Red is THE color. It is unparalleled in its seductiveness and femininity. This is the reason why I have selected it for this perfume. Red stands for passion and warmth, red allows a woman to appear sexy to others and to feel sexy to herself…
The tag line is “By Night, it’s all you need to wear.”
The perfume is a fruity oriental. Top notes are mandarin, red apple, freesia, almond accord; heart notes are vanilla flower, peach; base notes are amber and black vanilla.
By Night launches in October 2009.

Christina Aguilera By Night
Pop singer Christina Aguilera will launch Christina Aguilera By Night, her third fragrance under arrangements with Procter & Gamble, in September. The new scent for women is a flanker to her eponymous fragrance, Christina Aguilera, and is meant to be a sultry version for evening wear.
The fragrance notes include mandarin, freesia, rhubarb, peach blossom, pineapple, heliotrope, vanilla, moss and sandalwood.
Christina Aguilera By Night will be available in 15, 30 and 50 ml Eau de Parfum and in matching body products. I do not know if it will launch in the US, but I would be surprised if it did since the original Christina Aguilera scent did not.

Christina Aguilera by Night.
A bottle with a womanly, curvaceous shape, just like it’s predecessor. The top notes are lovely mandarin, freesia and rhubarb. At the heart there’s peach tree flower, pineapple and heliotrope. The base notes consist of vanilla, moss and sandalwood. This all adds up to a delicious, sultry evening scent.
